The course will be held in our head office, Mt Wellington, Auckland at various dates throughout the year. National Certificate in Electrical Apparatusin Explosive Atmospheres Level 4:
This qualification is designed for registered electricians, industrial measurement and control technicians and electrical inspectors, to develop competency in working with electrical apparatus in explosive atmospheres, (gas, dust, heat, pressure) and gain competency required to implement industry safety requirements specified in legislation and regulatory standards.

Install Maintain and Test Electrical Equipment in Explosive Atmospheres | Students will be able to install, maintain and attend to breakdowns of explosion-protected electrical apparatus and wiring systems in hazardous areas, and Conduct testing of electrical apparatus in explosive atmospheres installations. This course includes unit standards; 17056, 17058, 17059 and 17073 |
Registration Requirements:
Students working with relevant materials under the guidance of tutor Peter Lind
It is a Ministry of Education requirement that all students produce a verified copy of either birth certificate or passport as proof of citizenship. A senior staff member or Manager is able to stamp and sign the copy in the absence of a JP/Solicitor/Registrar or Deputy Registrar of the Court.
If they are a New Zealand Citizen
- a Birth certificate if they were born in New Zealand;
- a New Zealand passport;
- a Certificate of New Zealand Citizenship
If they are a New Zealand Permanent Resident
- a copy of their passport along with the Residence Permit or Returning Resident’s Visa pages copied;
- a letter of confirmation from the New Zealand Immigration Service together with their passport (if their permit has not been issued)
If they are Australian – Australian students who are living in NZ must supply one of the following
- A Birth certificate
- their Australian passport
- a Returning Resident’s Visa if they are an Australian permanent resident
If the student supplies an International Birth Certificate or International Passport (without residency pages copied) they are classed as an International student and will be charged a fee accordingly

Tools required for class:
Specialist tools required for the practical are provided however the tutor has advised that you may wish to bring a selection of your own tools for the three practical days and suggested the following items. We do have a selection of tools available if you are unable to do this.
Items that enable you to strip and terminate cable particularly 8 pair screwdrivers, pliers (pump),hacksaw for cutting cable, knives and general job tools you would normally have, again though we do have a selection of tools in the room.
